I'm just listening to the set from the Free Times Cafe February 9th show - really waiting for the cafine high to die down before I can sleep.
Well, unfortunately, the board audio did not come out but maybe it's not so unfortunate afterall.
I usually do an audience tape as well and listening to this gave a more meaningful interpretation of the show.
The performer has an impression of course. It's the one that comes between your own head and it's always different than what you hear when you hear the set back via tape. Usually, you find you did better than you thought you did. I guess that's because while performing you are thinking about all the bits and pieces you need to do from chord changes to vocal things.
You tend to focus on the missed cues or whatever. So, long story short, it was great to hear the audience react well to the material. I mean that's such a rush to hear people respond.
When I first started doing this, there was very little if any reaction. So, I can tell I'm growing. The use of my Band in a Box is also becoming tighter. It's very cool to see audience raction when I kick in some harmony from the DigiTech VL 4 machine. I am trying to be so very careful not to overuse it. Listening to the tape, I think it's about right.
